Operational Definitions

The percentage of professionals and associate professionals who are females.

All figures are collected from Census and Statistics Department since 1996.
Figure for 1991 is extracted from the Main Report of Hong Kong 1996 By-census. Since a different categorization has been adopted from 1993 onward, figures for 1981 and 1986 that are referring to the same occupational category are not available. Figure for 1991 is obtainable because the Census and Statistics Department has made a special effort to convert the data from the new set of categories to the old one for comparison. However, the method of conversion is not known to readers.

According to C & SD (25 Sep 2009), the Land-based non-institutional population (LBNP) aged 15 and over having attained primary education and above, by sex and by age group, as percentage of total LBNP in the respective group, based on the General Household Survey. Educational attainment refers to the highest level of education attained by a person in an educational institution regardless of whether he/she had completed the course. Only formal courses are counted as educational attainment.
